We were delighted that our Chairman, Dr. Craig Barrett who was the driving force behind Intel’s global technology empire from 1998 to 2005, led the ITLG delegation to Limerick again at the event in January. ITLG President & Founder, John Hartnett shared his vision of entrepreneurship, technology investment and the global gateway between Silicon Valley and Ireland.
During the “Growing Billion $ Companies” section, Isaac Applbaum, President of the California Israel Chamber of Commerce, shared the secrets of Israel’s success in Silicon Valley. Ingrid Vanderveldt, Dell’s Entrepreneur in Residence, shared her experiences in driving a culture of Entrepreneurship within a large global company. Michael McLoughlin CEO of Connect Ireland highlighted his organisations great success securing inward investment to Ireland from mid-sized international. Julie Sinnamon, the new CEO of Enterprise Ireland, revealedl her vision for the agency and how it supports Irish Start up companies over the next decade. Conor Lenihan discussed his experience of entrepreneurship and investment for technology start-ups in Russia.
Our “ITLG Young Innovators 2014", hosted by Shannon Airport on January 27th provided a journey of exploration into the future for Secondary School students. The students had an opportunity to win prizes for themselves and their school, to hang out with high level industry mentors and take part in hands-on team workshops focusing on entrepreneurial & innovation skills. There was networking opportunities with high level delegates including people from Disney, Dell, Analog, Intel, Google, LIT, UL, Coder Dojo and even Dragons from RTE’s Dragons’ Den! This was a chance to view new technologies and talk to innovators & entrepreneurs – a real chance to be inspired!

At our Innovation in Entertainment section, Una Fox VP Technology Disney, Múirne Laffan, Managing Director, RTÉ Digital, and Jane Gogan RTE’s Head of Drama, executive producer of the hugely successful series Love/Hate discussed in a series of sessions, the innovations currently being implemented by producers to bring the most exciting dramas to our screens.
The world has gone mobile in the last 5 years with the dominance of smart phones and tablet devices. The Future of Digital Content Distribution focused on cloud based technologies and how consumer will access media and other content in the next years. Mark Kellett, CEO Magnet, Aengus McClean, Head of AOL Global Operations, Fionnuala Meehan, Director of SMB Sales - Google shared their views.

Veteran Silicon Valley VC, renowned author and CEO of Accretive Solutions, Rich Moran probed the Venture Capital industry in a no holds barred panel "Heroes and Villains, the Truth About VCs" that will include, John Stanton, John Ryan managing partners at SVG Ventures, Sean Cunningham, Intel Capital , Bill Barhydt, CEO, Boom.
At our annual Fast Pitch Sessions 50 preselected from over 100 applicant technology Startups pitched their company to our panels of leading Silicon Valley investors.
This year’s exciting University Challenge Competition featured live on stage pitches at University of Limerick to a panel of RTE’s Dragons.
The event was hosted by Limerick, City of Culture 2014 and ITLG was proud to be part of this fantastic cultural program. This year there was an excess of 1000 delegates at our day conference at the University of Limerick and over 500 guests for our Gala Dinner at the Strand Hotel Limerick.
